Appreciating Art and Cultural Assets

Did you ever want someone to explain the meaning of a Cubist painting or provide you with the hidden secrets found in Medieval and Renaissance Art?

Maureen Curry is a Professional Art Historian in Southern California who has taught Art History and Art Appreciation for many years and believes in the importance of discovering the human creative spirit found in paintings and sculptures.  To gain insight into the art and how you can better appreciate what you see when you look at art, Maureen believes it is important to use your eyes and observe works of art closely to see how you relate to what is going on in the painting and how the colors may affect your emotions and reactions.   Next, it is recommended to do some research such as going to a museum or gallery exhibit and reading the information provided there or listening to docent talks.  Also, meet with others who have knowledge about art and art styles and meet with others who are like you and wish to grow in their ability to appreciate art.  By gaining a better understanding of the meaning of art we begin to develop an interest where appreciation for art can grow.  Art and Art History can be a wonderful and rewarding way to learn how vibrant the human creative spirit is present in the world today.

Our Art Education services include designing thematic lectures, field trips and tours to galleries, major auction houses, and historic sites.  Time given to such art historical research expands our view of the art world and enhances our own personal connections and appreciation for art.  Private and public programs to be announced.

Maureen recommends joining an art museum and going to special events such as programs, museum openings, workshops, and special art exhibits by popular artists.  She believes you should go by yourself or invite other people.  Most important is to appreciate the Art!
